Her fall has just begun. Only his touch can save her from the shift that could destroy it all. Within my blood runs a thing our kind calls the Shadowing Disease. It Shadows over, and bends everything to its will.

Excerpt One

My makers would say I was created for revenge. I say, I was born to prove them wrong. I defied the Council and its Keepers.  Fought back against the dark magic of our enemies, but I am afraid it had come at a cost.
Inflicted with the dark disease, I was lost in every possible way; and they were wrong – death does not bring you your true purpose. After death, I am more misplaced than ever, but only because I am immune to guidance. I relive my darkest moments over and over again, just to remind myself of who I am.
I am the destined one. The haltered. For me, there is no love and no release, only destruction; but I am on a path to be free of its burden. I do love and I will have it, absorb it and never, ever, let all its enchanting affections go. In order to be with love, there is only one path to lead me there; through this war. But nothing and no one knows what awaits on the other side, or what lies have been afflicted upon us about the after. Remorse is an infection I no longer want. I had made apocalyptic mistakes, and will probably keep on faltering forward. It has become my only direction in a reality where there is none. To him, there is no him, if there is no me. He is bound to me, and I hated it more than I will ever confess. His cross to bear is me, and to be that – to be this – is a curse I must fight.
When the first true blood-shift came, it tore through flesh and parted blood, threatening to bend me, break bone, shatter my mind and entrap my heart to become its will. It comes with vicious intent, moving my thoughts and touching me with a cutting effect from the inside. It has many ways of bleeding out, and when it releases, there is nothing I can do to stop it. No one is safe when it entraps me in its claws of foul lust. Corrupt, damnable, depraved, destructive, hideous, demonic; your kind would call it many things. I have a weapon against the profane that becomes me – his touch alone has the power to release the talons of a sweet darkness that clings on for dear life. It has one trigger – my guilt. I can change it if only I can take the leap, surrender myself utterly. I am ready with all of me, for all of him.
I know what I have to do, the desperation of it pulls my mind with the unfathomable determination of a ravenous predator. I let it sink in hard and true. I feel the swell of the fight fill me with a bitter sweetness, and with a glorious soothing pain that tears my mind from the disease which transforms me. My loss has become my fight as I watch it all wither away. But, I will never stop fighting. I am my own destiny; my destiny is to be with him. And the Truth-seekers of this prophecy will not take it lightly.
Everything else becomes Evanescent.

Only a mysterious offer from Blake Leaf, the Rubicon and a dragon predestined for evil, reveals there may be a light at the end of Elena’s dark tunnel.

With the life she thought she knew crashing down around her, Elena will have to face a monumental decision about the fate of Paegeia. She can either make peace with Blake’s demands or try once again to unravel the Queen’s secrets that lie deep within her dragon, Tanya La Frey’s, heart.

The third heart pounding novel in The Dragonian Series by Adrienne Wood

The excerpt

I WAS BACK INSIDE that cave, the one where Lucian lost his life. I looked around but I knew he wasn’t going to come for me, he was dead. Then what the hell am I still doing here, staring at a psycho who claims to be my dragon?
“You really thought that I was your dragon, Elena? Seriously?” He laughed that sadistic laugh that made my insides twist and turn in all directions.
“Get away from me you freak,” I spat.
His hand connected hard against my cheek, it burned and my ears rang for a couple of seconds.
“I’m not a freak, I’m a patriot.”
“Patriot?” I laughed as loud as I could. “You are a murderer!”
Another strike. The Elementals clucked like crazy, they could feel the danger all around them and must have felt helpless. It was beginning to drive me insane.
“Stop it you mongrels, or I’ll skin you alive,” Paul yelled and for some reason they listened. He looked back down at me again. The point of his knife was close to my throat. “It’s funny how everyone around you knows who you are, Elena, except you.”
“What are you talking about?”
He laughed again. “I guess they like to play mind games with you, like to keep you in the dark.” His eyes met mine. “Some friends you have.”
“Stop that, you know nothing about my friends, or what friendship is.”
“Why? Because they all end up betraying you at the end of the day. Take it from me; it’s better to live in the dark. You can do whatever you want, be whatever you want. Your friends don’t give a shit about you, and neither does your dragon.”
“You are not my dragon,” I yelled again.
“Oh, I know that, and for some sick, twisted reason your true dragon wasn’t bothered one bit that I claimed you as my rider.”
“You are lying.”
“Am I?” He looked around. “Then where is your dragon, Elena? Why isn’t it here?” The Elementals’ clucking noises drowned the rest of Paul’s words. I could see his lips moving, but their sounds of pure panic drilled through my brain, making it impossible to hear what he had to say. It grew louder and louder and then a cannon shot rang through their cries.
I jumped up in bed, soaked with sweat. It was like, the gazillionth time I’d had that dream. I could still hear their clucking and it made me feel like I was going crazy, but still, no tears came. My heart felt as if it was bouncing inside my ears. No matter how many times I had the same dream, I could never hear Paul’s last words as the Elemental sounds kept interrupting him. But there was one thing that I knew was a lie, I didn’t own a dragon. I was a dragon, and that was one piece of information I still struggled to deal with.

All three novels, Firebolt, Thunderlight and Frostbite is available to purchase on all the major online stores.

GUEST POST

Meet Samantha Leaf. (Sammy)

I got a bit uneasy because I’m meeting for the first time a dragon. She’s female and I have no idea what to expect. There is a soft knock on the door. I take a huge breath and walk to open the door. What I found was not what I expected.
In front of me sits a beautiful red head, well it’s hard to explain. Her hair colour is brassy and she has the most beautiful hazel brown eyes, and deep dimples whenever she smiles.
Me: Sorry that I’m staring. Those eyes?
SL: (She started to laugh, like a hyena. It’s so contagious and I laughed with) I get that a lot. It’s a dragon thing.
Me: (I took another deep breath) So Sammy it is? Tell us a bit about yourself?
SL: How much time do you have? Just kidding. I’m from Tith, lives in one of the Dragon city’s called Borac. All the houses there are gigantic, cause it’s a dragon city. We love our true form so whenever home we can be free. I’m the sister of the Rubicon. Although he is one of the feisty dragons, I’m a Fire-tail. One of the Metallics. My brother is all the dragons in one. Where he is a complete pain in my parents butt sides, I’m their dream child. I give them no problems what so ever.
Me: (I started to smile as she just babbled on.)
SL: I go to Dragonia Academy, I don’t have a rider yet, but then again we are not like the Chromatics (meaning bad dragons) that you need to fight in the Coliseum until they surrender. No, we Metallics choose.
Me: So you are a Metallic and your brother a what?
SL: (She giggles.) A chromatic. It’s a breed of dragon that lingers a bit more to the dark side. They have all the abilities. You get the Night-Villain which is black. They look like their busy decomposing. My dad is a Night-Villain. They are acid breathers. Then you have the Green-Vapors, who are chlorine breathers. The snow dragon is white, and breathe a chilling frost, but they are so smart, and so scardy cats. Then you get the Moon-bolt, they breath lightning bolts and can see the future the older they get. My best friend Becky claimed a Moon-bolt a couple of months back. She is the bomb. Gave him all his hell. Last is the Sun-blast. They are red and like me, breathes Fire. Evil though, very vile creatures. Very difficult to claim one.
Me: So why aren’t you the same as your brother?
SL: You sound like Elena the first time we tried to explain it to her. I used kittens. When our mother lays an egg, our parents don’t know what they’ll get until we’re hatched. Just like Kittens look different, so are dragons.
Me: Interesting. Tell me a bit about Dragonia Academy?
SL: It’s an awesome school. It’s build on air, don’t ask me how. It just is, stuck in the sky and the view is breath taking. We have Enchantments. Although Spells don’t work on dragons, unless they are something physical, like you turn a tree into a life thing that kills people, we still need to know how to cast them.
ME: My eyes grew bigger. Did the tree killing thing actually happen?
SL: Not the tree creature, but there were once plant eating monsters. They used to devour anything that gets in their way. We also have Art of War. We need to know how to fight in our human form too, because you do get situations where dragons can’t turn into their true form.  Transformations teach us how to deal with scary situations and to not act with it. We are born to reveal our true self whenever danger is near. It’s something we can smell in the air when danger is near. Transformation helps us to stay in our human form. I know it’s sounds dumb but there are situations when you can’t reveal what you are, especially visiting this side. We have a Viden, she’s some sort of fortune teller, and a Moon-Bolt dragon, that can see the future. We are forced to see her once a month.
Me: You said forced, don’t you like the Viden.
SL: Believe me, when you meet her, you wouldn’t like her either. She is so vain and she thinks that we are so stupid and not know whenever she sucks something out of her thumb or makes a true revealing.
Me: (I had to supress my laughter.) There is a different with the two.
SL: She nods. If she makes a prophecy, then her eyes light up and she speaks in so many voices. Her wind blows in all directions and what comes out of her mouth is like a riddle. You have no idea what you have to do. When she gazes in her Crystal ball and roll her eyes over, she’s speaking bs.
Me: I couldn’t stop myself and starts to laugh)
SL: Tell me about it. (Sammy laughs too.)
Me: Well, Sammy. As much as I would love to chat to you more, our time is up. But I will definitely find out more about you in Firebolt. I can’t wait to read it.
SL: Yeah, I guess it’s a cool story. I’m still grounded from that last thing that happened, so you can be glad my mom said it’s fine for me to come and meet you.
Me: In that case, tell your mom I’m truly grateful. I wish you all the best for what to come and hopefully we’ll meet again.
SL: That will be nice.
She shakes my hand awkwardly, like she never done that before, wave goodbye as she almost exits the door and disappeared.
I took another deep breath. Thank heavens she was in her human form.
